Notice to Cemetery Caretaker

The Cemetery Caretaker/Park and Recreation Department will be notified at least 24 hours prior to any burial or burial rites.

Final Disposition Notice

No burial will be made without a proper Final Disposition Notice being filed with the Cemetery Caretaker/Park and Recreation Department.

Funeral Directors

Orders for burial given by the undertaker having charge of the burial of any person will be construed by the City of Shawano as orders from the lot owner(s) himself, and after interment no changes in location of graves will be made except at the expense of the lot owner(s).

Control of Funerals

Funerals while within the grounds will be under the control of the Cemetery Caretaker/Park and Recreation Department.

Sunday and Holiday Burials Prohibited

No burial shall be conducted or interment made in the Cemetery on Sundays or holidays (City of Shawano observed or actual), except in cases of contagious disease or for some other reason where necessity for immediate burial may be urgent.

Interments Restricted

All interments on lots shall be restricted to members of the family. If an order is given for the interment of a person not a member of the immediate family, permission in writing from the lot owner must be filed with the Cemetery Caretaker/Park and Recreation Department.

Interment of 2 Bodies in 1 Grave

The interment of 2 bodies in 1 grave (that is 1 above the other) will not be permitted, except in case of mother and infant child or twin children, or 2 children buried at the same time. One exception will be made. Four cremated remains may be buried on 1 lot.

Grave Digging

All grave preparation will be made by the Cemetery Caretaker/Park and Recreation Department and all costs of preparation will be charged to lot owner or person ordering the grave.

Winter Burials

Winter burials shall be allowed. However, the total cost of burial will be increased to include but not limited to snow removal, thawing of graves and the replacement of grass must be paid by the owner or person ordering the burial.

Burial Vaults

Interments must be in vaults of concrete, slate, copper or similar material.
