Five persons from a Minneapolis business firm flew into Shawano yesterday with this huge DC-3 plane. The group was transacting business in this area.
The size of the huge craft is compared with the small Moony Mite owned by Jack Miller of Gillett. Airport Manager AL Demeo is shown checking the smaller plane.

Representatives of Great Lakes Flight Standards Division, Engineering & Manufacturing Branch, recently inspected and issued original airworthiness certificates on the first six aircraft of a group of 49 Piper model PA 18-135 aircraft, owned by Shawano Flying Service, Shawano, Wisconsin.
These aircraft were obtained as military surplus and previously operated by the Italian military on a lend/lease basis from the U.S. government.

Tourists come to Shawano Lake by land, water, and air. Shawano has a fine airport facility with a paved runway and all modern airport service is available. A part of the airport is shown here.
