Shawano Municipal Utilities - Finance Manager


Shawano Municipal Utilities (SMU) is seeking a qualified candidates for the role of Finance Manager. The Finance Manager is a key member of the SMU management team supporting fellow managers with budget and financial expertise and providing monthly reports, analysis and presentations to the SMU Commission and BPMA Board of Directors. The SMU Finance Manager also interacts with and supports the City of Shawano Finance Department in matters involving water and sewer utility accounting and reporting. The Finance Manager supervises the utility finance/customer accounts staff of four, and will engage daily with finance staff, fellow managers and utility customers.Please see attachments for more details.

City Clerk/Community Relations Manager Position 


The City of Shawano is seeking applications for the position City Clerk/Community Relations Manager.  This position is responsible for administration of elections, licensing, managing official City records and carrying out all other statutory duties of the City Clerk. The position is also responsible for developing and overseeing platforms to provide communications and messaging on a broad range of public policy matters to the public. The starting salary will be $57,000- $62,000 annually.  This position also provides an excellent fringe benefits package.

Shawano Police Department - Community Service Officer

The City of Shawano Police Department is recruiting for the position of part-time Community Service Officer. A Community Service Officer is a civilian non-sworn position with the police department.


We are looking for a person with strong problem-solving skills, who is team oriented and a strong communicator.  Applicants should be someone that wants to make a difference and proud to serve the City of Shawano. 

Minimum Requirements:
1. A United States citizen and at least 18 years of age.
2. A high school graduate or possesses a GED.
3. No felony or domestic violence related convictions.
4. Possess a current valid WI driver's license. 

The starting salary for this position for entry level is $12.30/hour.  Primary hours will be weekdays, evenings and some weekends.

Shawano Police Department - Full-time Patrol Officer

The City of Shawano Police Department is recruiting for the position of full-time patrol officer. We are establishing an eligibility list for future openings.

The mission of the Shawano Police Department is to protect and serve the members of the community by enforcing laws and responding to calls for service. Officers are expected to have a positive impact on community relations through meaningful citizen contacts with an emphasis on service. 

The Shawano Police Department takes great pride in being progressive and looking to officers for new ideas and strategies. The police department strives to modernize and upgrade all of its equipment to ensure officers have what they need to succeed in their mission.

Patrol Officers work the Pitman work schedule (12 hours shifts with a 2-2, 3-2, 2-3 rotation). This schedule allows officers to have every other weekend off (Fri, Sat, Sun) with the longest work week being 3 days.

City of Shawano provides a generous benefits package for police officers. Newly appointed officers receive all initial duty equipment (uniforms, duty belt, ballistic vest, etc.). Additionally officers receive $515 of clothing allowance. A starting sick leave bank of 360 hours, 226 available hours of time off, and minimum of 48 hours of in house training per year (not including specialized training).

For patrol officers, 144 hours of holiday pay is paid out at the beginning of December. Other benefits include longevity, educational incentive for Associate, Bachelor, and Master Degrees.

New officers have a starting salary of $52,312/year. Qualified individuals with law enforcement experience may start at a higher pay rate upon the Chief’s approval.

Specialized positions available in the department include drug unit, evidence technician, dive/rescue member, school resource officer, detective, K-9 officer, field training officer, special response team (SRT) member, unified tactics instructor, arson investigator, and crime prevention officer.
