Shawano Municipal Utilities - Part-time Administrative Assistant

Shawano Municipal Utilities (SMU) is currently accepting applications for a friendly professional who is excited about providing excellent customer service to our customers.  Our office environment is fun with a good variety of tasks that make the day go by fast. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Greeting customers, answering telephones, and accepting customer payments.
  • Accurately post payments to customer accounts.
  • Maintaining a balanced cash drawer. 
  • Sorting and distributing mail.
  • Assisting with mailing various notices and correspondence. 
  • Politely answering customer account inquires, or as required providing general information to customers. 
  • Referring specialized customer questions or problems to supervisors for resolution.
  • Filing, copying, and scanning documents.
  • Organizing travel arrangements.
  • Ordering office supplies.
  • Performing related work projects as assigned. 
The hourly wage for this position is: $15.00-$16.00

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 4-6 hours per day; 20 hours per week

Education: High School or equivalent

Experience: Customer Service - 2-3 Years

Park and Recreation Department - Part-time Building Supervisor

The City of Shawano Park and Recreation Department is currently recruiting for the position of a regular part-time Building Supervisor.  Application packet information can be found by clicking the links below or can be picked up in person at City Hall (127 S Sawyer Street) or the Recreation Center (220 E Division Street).  

The starting salary for this position with be $14.50/hour with additional benefits available. 

This position will be scheduled for approximately 25-30 hours per week with primary working hours being in the afternoons, evenings, and two Saturdays per month.  The Building Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the Recreation Center facility in the absence of the Activities Coordinator and Director. This position also supervises other part-time employees, operates the cash register, answers telephones, and monitors the weight room, lobby, racquetball courts, and the swimming pool area.

Shawano Police Department - Full-time Patrol Officer

The City of Shawano Police Department is recruiting for the position of full-time patrol officer for an anticipated future opening.

The mission of the Shawano Police Department is to protect and serve the members of the community by enforcing laws and responding to calls for service. Officers are expected to have a positive impact on community relations through meaningful citizen contacts with an emphasis on service. 

The Shawano Police Department takes great pride in being progressive and looking to officers for new ideas and strategies. The police department strives to modernize and upgrade all of its equipment to ensure officers have what they need to succeed in their mission.

Patrol Officers work the Pitman work schedule (12 hours shifts with a 2-2, 3-2, 2-3 rotation). This schedule allows officers to have every other weekend off (Fri, Sat, Sun) with the longest work week being 3 days.

City of Shawano provides a generous benefits package for police officers. Newly appointed officers receive all initial duty equipment (uniforms, duty belt, ballistic vest, etc.). Additionally officers receive $515 of clothing allowance. A starting sick leave bank of 360 hours, 226 available hours of time off, and minimum of 48 hours of in house training per year (not including specialized training).

For patrol officers, 144 hours of holiday pay is paid out at the beginning of December. Other benefits include longevity, educational incentive for Associate, Bachelor, and Master Degrees.

New officers have a starting salary of $52,312/year. Qualified individuals with law enforcement experience may start at a higher pay rate upon the Chief’s approval.

Specialized positions available in the department include drug unit, evidence technician, dive/rescue member, school resource officer, detective, K-9 officer, field training officer, special response team (SRT) member, unified tactics instructor, arson investigator, and crime prevention officer.

Shawano Police Department - Community Service Officer

The City of Shawano Police Department is recruiting for the position of part-time Community Service Officer. A Community Service Officer is a civilian non-sworn position with the police department.

We are looking for a person with strong problem-solving skills, who is team oriented and a strong communicator.  Applicants should be someone that wants to make a difference and proud to serve the City of Shawano. 

Minimum Requirements:
1. A United States citizen and at least 18 years of age.
2. A high school graduate or possesses a GED.
3. No felony or domestic violence related convictions.
4. Possess a current valid WI driver's license. 

The starting salary for this position for entry level is $12.30/hour.  Primary hours will be weekdays, evenings and some weekends.
