The city of Shawano is excited to announce plans to construct a dog park to be located just west of the Shawano Humane Society. Construction of the Animal Recreation Facility (ARF) is scheduled to kick off this summer with an opening anticipated in the fall of 2020.
The city has received an extremely generous donation of $15,000 from the Nora Jende Charitable fund. The Common Council has also approved the allocation of additional funds and land to move the project forward.
These funds will only cover the bare necessities required to build the park with elements like fencing, gates, and waste stations. However, the community has expressed a desire to do so much more!Elements like shade structures, potable water stations, animal agility elements, trees and landscaping are not part of the current plan, but it’s not too late!
So, we are turning to you, the Shawano community. We are seeking donations of any amount to help us create the best possible ARF we can. Together we can make the ARF everything the community wants it to be!
Please click the donate here button and select register to make a donation. The entire process will take only a few minutes, but your impact will last for generations.
All donations are tax deductible and will be placed in a designated account for the creation of the ARF. Please contact Matt Hendricks directly at for donations over $1,000, which will be specially recognized on site at the ARF. We ask that you also please assist us by sharing links to this information via your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Email or other avenues. The more support we receive, the more amenities we can provide. We look forward to this great community partnership!
