Acceptable Items

  • Pesticides
  • Acids
  • Caustics
  • Stains/varnishes

Unacceptable Items

  • Latex Paints: Paints can be safely disposed of. Residents should take the covers off of the paint can and let the paint harden. Once the paint has hardened, the paint containers can be set out for collection with the covers off. Also, using absorbent material such as kitty litter, sand, newspaper, etc. will work for disposing of paint. Fill a large cardboard box with the absorbent material and dump the paint inside. Let the box dry out completely and place inside a clear plastic bag. The paint containers can be set at the curb with the covers off.
  • Oil Paints: Oil paints are considered household hazardous waste and should be taken to the Brown County Household Hazardous Waste site for proper disposal.
