The City of Shawano is reaching out to our residents in hopes of finding people that are willing to help keep the catch basins around their properties clear of snow and ice.

This winter has certainly been taking a toll on everyone, and we are so very appreciative of everyone's efforts thus far to maintain your sidewalks, driveways, fire hydrants, etc.

With a temperature warm up on the horizon, we are hopeful that if you see that the catch basin located by your property is plugged or covered, that you would be willing to attempt to unplug it so that once all this snow and ice starts to melt, that the streets are able to drain properly and a secondary issue of minor street flooding doesn't occur.

City crews are continuing to work day and night to remove snow from the streets and banks, and will be out working on the catch basins as well as time permits.  Hopefully together we can keep the soon-to-be flowing water moving and off the streets.

Thank you for your help in this matter.  It is a testament to our wonderful residents that we know we can count on you for additional help in these types of situations.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Public Works at 715-526-3512.

Thank you.
