City of Shawano Finance Director 

The City of Shawano is currently looking for an individual to fill their Finance Director position.  

The position is responsible for the financial management, oversight, and reporting for all fiscal activities of the City of Shawano, and subsidiary funds.  Principal duties include: oversight of the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, debt administration, budget preparation, cash flow management, preparing the general ledger and financial statements for the annual financial audits, and preparing accurate regulatory reports, monthly financial statements, cash flow and performance reports.

The Finance Director is a key member of the City management team, supporting department heads with budget and financial expertise and providing monthly reports and presentations to the City Council as well as periodic interaction with City committees and commissions.  The Finance Director supervises the city accountant and will engage daily senior management and elected/appointed officials. 

Salary:  $75,000 to $85,000

Position Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and minimum of five years’ experience performing upper-level accounting and financial management/analysis, including at least two years of supervisory experience.  CMA or CPA certification and direct experience in municipal budgeting, utility accounting/finance and/or municipal fund accounting/finance are desired.

City Accountant

The City of Shawano is currently looking for an individual to fill their Accountant position.  

The position is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial support to the Finance Director and all City departments. Principal duties include: processing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, audit coordinating and general accounting for all City departments. 

The Accountant reports to the City’s Finance Director and works closely with the City Clerk/ Treasurer. The person in this position plays a key role in the financial management of the city, responsible for precise financial analysis and record keeping that result in organized financial records, improved utilization of material and/or equipment, decreased liability, and improved public satisfaction.

Salary:  $45,000 to $55,000 DOQ

Position Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field strongly preferred with a minimum of five years’ experience in accounting also preferred.  CMA or CPA certification and direct experience in municipal budgeting, utility accounting/finance and/or municipal fund accounting/finance are desired.
